Beginning guitar players have a tendency to strum or pick the guitar strings by using a series of either all downstrokes or all upstrokes. It is important to increase playing fluidity and efficiency by using a technique called alternate picking: the process of using a guitar pick to strike the strings using a pattern of alternating downward and upward motions, or downstrokes and upstrokes. Resulting in faster, smoother playing. Read the complete article written by Ben Edwards of Jamorama offering practical advice in improving this important skill.

The Resilient Can Opener

Once upon a time, three knives were working their way with the Italian chef, chopping and cutting some tomatoes back in Sicily. One of them noticed a can opener sitting quietly next the pots and pans and snickered, “What an ugly looking can opener! What on earth is he doing here?” to the other knives, and they all laughed at him. The can opener noticed that and he answered back, “I may be the most ugly can opener, but I am the best can opener any chef has ever seen!” Who would know that many months later, all three knives will soon find themselves in a recycling center and the can opener, staying in that restaurant, still serving that chef every now and then.

I Enjoy Making Ice Cream

One of my favorite things to do with my children is making ice cream at home with them. They really enjoy this time that I spend with them. They get to place the ingredients that they like inside. For the most part, I allow them to put whatever they would like inside. They enjoy making those choices. The ice cream is wonderful and they can change the flavor each time they have ice cream. It is a marvelous product to have.

Easy Options for Transferring 35 mm Slides to DVD

In today’s world of computers and digital pictures, the idea of actual printed pictures is slowly going by the wayside. That, however, doesn’t mean that things like 35 mm film are no longer being used. Today you can and many people prefer to take pictures with 35 mm film and have them developed and placed on a CD or DVD. However, if you have old slides of 35 mm film negatives you want to transfer them to something more permanent, then you will want find the best way to do this. There are actually a few different ways to transfer 35mm slides to dvd, and finding the best option for you is important.

The first option is perhaps the easiest option for transferring your 35mm slides to dvd. This would be by simply taking your slides to a business that offers this service. These services will often charge you a transfer fee per slide. The price will often depend on the quality of the resolution. 2000 DPI is typically the standard, but prices will go up the higher you demand the DPI resolution be.

The second option is doing it yourself. What you will typically need is a scanner and a picture editing program. Most flat document scanners will not work, because most of them are not equipped to scan transparencies. However, more expensive scanners may include this feature.

If not then you will be able to purchase dedicated scanners that scan 35 mm slides exclusively. The price of these scanners will typically go up the higher the level of DPI that the scanner provides. But all in all, you can normally get a good 35 mm scanner for around $100. Then all you are left to do is to scan the slides, import them into a editing program to either clean them up or arrange them and then burn the 35mm slides to dvd.

If you have only a handful of negative slides to transfer to disc, then it might be a good idea to simply pay for someone else to do it for you. However, if you have boxes and boxes of slides as some people do, then you might want to consider  buying your own scanner so that you can transfer those 35mm slides to dvd or CD. In either case, you will then have your 35 mm slides in a media form that if taken care of will last for many lifetimes to come, long after the actual film has degraded and gone away.

Yogurt dilemma

A promoter approached me while I was walking down a street. She was trying to promote the brand of yogurt she is selling. She offered me a taste sample of the yogurt. ‘Yuck!’ is the only word that can be used to describe that piece of sample. I felt like eating chalks. Is there anyone in the market willing to make some good yogurts for the consumers? Of course, few companies are producing fine yogurts, but they come at an outrageous price. I am a yogurt lover. Getting a yogurt maker would be ideal for me to make my own yogurt based on my own preference. The problem lies at where can I find the best yogurt maker! I don’t want to just buy a yogurt maker, I want to buy the best yogurt maker!
